Career related topic

To be honest, I was very scared when leaving school, I felt that I would be alone and on my own for the first time since school and everything that goes with it (teachers, friends, etc.) was a kind of containment for me.

I was not sure what I wanted, since although Chemistry and Pharmacy was among my first options, I also had in mind a career in nursing and biotechnology engineering. When I had to make up my mind, it was somewhat frustrating since the test score was not enough for me to opt for nursing at the universities I had in mind (Universidad de Chile and Católica) but I did go to Chemistry and Pharmacy at these two universities, despite From being the career that I had in first option, I was still dissatisfied because it was not the career that my mother wanted (nurse), fortunately now I am happy with what I study and both my family and my friends support me.

The latter I tell as it is a common factor when making this important decision, the opinion of parents or relatives influences a lot. The opinion of others in general also influences since there are careers that are stigmatized.

This is a worrying issue since choosing what is going to define you for the rest of your life is putting a lot of responsibility on young people since although a person can work in a different field than the one they studied and prepared in their higher education, they always the professional title will be the cover letter, sometimes unfortunately turning into what defines a person.

  1. The opinion of close people are important, my teacher inspired me to study chemistry, and it was a good choice.

  2. I think that your choice doesn't define the rest of your life. You can change you choice if you think that it wasn't correct.
